The “B” Finals of the World Rowing Coastal Championships concluded today, held in Genoa at San Nazaro Beach. After the grand spectacle of yesterday’s “A” Finals, followed by the awards ceremony on Corso Italia, today marked the second part of the awards presentation, which had been postponed due to weather conditions. This officially concludes the first phase of this global event, a key highlight in the Genoa 2024 European Capital of Sport program, as we now look forward to the World Beach Sprint Finals next weekend.
The rain did not stop the athletes, who successfully completed all the finals on the course set in front of San Nazaro Beach. The World Championship schedule was therefore fulfilled, thanks to the organizational efforts of all those involved in the event.
Over 700 athletes from more than 40 nations across five continents competed in the World Endurance Championship. Additionally, over 50 nations will present at least one crew in the upcoming World Beach Sprint Finals, the first-ever world event for the discipline as an Olympic one towards 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Among the authorities in attendance were Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of World Rowing; Giuseppe Abbagnale, President of the Italian Rowing Federation (FIC); Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa; and Marco Dodero, President of the Organizing Committee.
